Peace Week at Maharishi School: A Celebration of Calm, Kindness, and Connection

Planting the Seeds of Peace, One Moment at a Time

In the final week of Term 3, Maharishi School celebrated Peace Week; a beautiful time dedicated to exploring the meaning of peace, experiencing it in daily routines, and learning how each of us can contribute to a more harmonious world.

The week was filled with thoughtful conversations, quiet reflection, creative expression, and joyful connection. Across all year levels, students explored peace in many forms; peace within themselves, peace in relationships, peace in nature, and peace in the world around them.

As Maharishi Mahesh Yogi beautifully said:

“Individual peace is the basis of world peace.”

This simple yet profound message reminded us that true change begins with each of us.

At the top of the new flagpole, which was unveiled in the opening ceremony, is the Global Country of World Peace flag; a symbol of unity and harmony that transcends borders and cultures. It reminds us that peace can be lived at every level: within ourselves, within our community, and across the world. Its presence here is a daily reminder of our shared commitment to nurturing peace.

Peace in Action

Throughout the week, classrooms were filled with creativity, collaboration, and a wonderful spirit of connection. Students wrote thoughtful reflections, created beautiful artworks, shared stories, and discussed what peace means in everyday life. From taking turns and speaking kindly to noticing the beauty in nature or offering a helping hand, they discovered how small, mindful actions can create big ripples of harmony.

A highlight of the week was the official opening of our new Peace Garden, featuring hand-painted stones, each decorated with a unique word or symbol of peace. Students also enjoyed a variety of special experiences, including peace workshops, inspiring film sessions, a joyful talent show, collaborative mandala art with Independent Schools Victoria, and live performances that celebrated creativity and unity.

A Whole-School Celebration

The week concluded with a wonderful community lunch and Peace Assembly, bringing together students, staff, and families in a celebration of harmony. During the ceremony, students shared their heartfelt peace wishes, and members of the school community were invited to add their own messages of peace. The atmosphere was calm, joyful, and filled with pride; a beautiful reflection of the unity and sense of connection that continue to flourish within our Maharishi School community.

Keeping the Spirit of Peace Alive

Although Peace Week has ended, the spirit of peace continues to grow within our students. As a Consciousness-Based Education school, Maharishi School remains committed to fostering both inner and outer peace; helping children develop not only as learners but as compassionate, balanced individuals who bring positivity to the world around them.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful staff, students, and families for making Peace Week such a meaningful and memorable celebration. Together, we have truly planted the seeds of peace, one moment, one action, one heart at a time.

Warm regards,

The Maharishi School Team
